Week 7

Brief for Gaudi Design Week 7

Design a model that incorporates Gaudi and his lifestyle.
The design should be designed as a bachelor space. Antonio never had any family and therefore the spaces in the design should not account for any family spaces but should rather focus on the lifestyle of Gaudi, using Architecture, Religion & Nature.

Gaudi was also a skilled user of ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging and carpentry.
So you would expect that some of these different craftmanships are infused into the model.

Gaudi Research:

*Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Reus or Riudums

*Biggest Passions: Architecture, Nature, Religion

*Reformed the current architecture so much he needed his own branch, Catalan Modernism
*1852-1926

*No family or wife

*Appreciation of natural architecture

*Mediterrean pride, considered people from the mediterrean had a better mind for creativity and design

*Religious, Catholic

*Neo-Gothic inspiration

*Used handmade 3D models rather than plans and section.

In his younger years Gaudi was a true bachelor enjoying the easy life often in parties and driving fancy cars.

Not much can be said about his love life. There are rumors that he was only ever interested in one woman but that it never turned out. Some believe that his very religious beliefs kept him from women.

In his latter years though, his life took a turn. Going from a carefree bachelor to a hermit, seldom seen and in the very end he was more of a hobo and was not recognized on his death at first.

Your model should have:

*Inspiration from nature

*Skillful use of one or more of the following: ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging, carpentry.

*Neo-Gothic Inspiration

*Extensive 3D model that should have the capacity to be used as a plan (Carry correct scale)

*Bachelor living spaces i.e large bed, man-cave (Studio)

I imagine Gaudi would need a very organic looking bachelor pad that has a studio made for a large number of crafts including ceramics, stained glass, wrought ironwork forging, carpentry as well as room for art and architecture.

Also a car space of any sort that can store a very nice car ( Needs good protection ) ( Gaudi in modern sense) There should also be a large section for entertainment. Since i have chosen to have this brief written for a young Gaudi who frequently enjoyed parties, going to the opera or theatre, there ought to be a good space for enjoying this type of entertainment.

Large outdoor area to find inspiration from nature and of course a small shrine for prayers and religious artifacts .

Spaces Required:

Master Bedroom

Studio

Living Space (Containing large capacity for entertainment, sound systen, TV)

Large outdoor area

Prayer Area/Shrine

Fancy Toilet (Use mentioned craftmanships extensivly) Preferably put in 2 since there might be hosted parties and such

Dinner/Party area
